Your brand matters. I can't stress that enough. Your brand tells people who you are, what to expect, and it can build (or destroy) trust.
There are certain places that, when you walk in, you know exactly where you are. We could take you in blindfolded, remove the veil, and you'd instantly know. There are two that come to mind, but since I'm not affiliated, I won't mention names. But, let's see if you can figure it out from these descriptors: Red shirts, tan pants. Red bullseyes everywhere. Natural earthy elements everywhere. Red carts. Often a name-brand coffee shop by the checkouts. Clothes, Food, Furniture... you already know.
What about this one: Marble floors, tall ornate ceilings with lots of yellow glowing lights. Pillars that look like some sort of palm tree. Bamboo chairs at tables and half-booths everywhere you look. Tan, orangy reds, gold, very Tuscan. A refrigerated display case just inside the main entrance with enough calories to sustain most third world countries for a year. Oh, and a menu that causes decision paralysis by the time you get past the second page.
what is your brand?
who are you?
Your brand should communicate who you are. Not who you want to be. If those two things don't line up, you have some work to do. But people should know what to expect when they see your brand. They shouldn't be surprised that your reality doesn't match your marketing persona.
What do you do?
If you're thinking that who you are and what you do are the same, you aren't 100% wrong. But, you're still wrong. Who you are is your personality as a business or organization. What you do is quite literally what do they get from you. What service do you provide? What product?
Can you be trusted?
Brand recognition provides trust. It can also destroy it. There are brands that you know, instantly recognize, and immediately trust. There are other brands that you know, recognize, and instantly turn away from. Ultimately that depends on you. But, we can make sure people recognize you when they see your brand.
